Snap!’s 1992 Festivalbar performance captured the sound, energy, and scale of early-’90s Eurodance.

This is what a dance anthem taking over the world looked like in 1992. Snap! performed “Rhythm Is a Dancer” at the Festivalbar finale inside Verona’s historic Arena, with Thea Austin delivering the vocals in front of a packed crowd.

Released earlier that year, the single quickly became an international success. It reached No. 1 in several countries, spent six weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart, and became the second-best-selling single in the United Kingdom in 1992. With its bright synths, driving beat, and unmistakable vocal hook, the track became one of Eurodance’s defining records.

More than three decades later, the footage still works as a perfect time capsule of early-’90s dance culture. Thousands of people move as one, completely locked into the music, capturing the moment when electronic pop stopped being a niche sound and became a global phenomenon.
